TRADE: San Antonio traded J.R. Reid, Brad Lohaus, and a 1996 1st round
draft pick to New York for Charles Smith and Monty Williams.  The NBA
trading deadline is February 22.

Jamal Mashburn (Dal) will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee 
next week.  Dallas' doctor T.O. Souryal: "Jamal has an area of wear on the
end of his femur.  That's what's causing the pain.  The procedure will
involve scraping and drilling to stimulate healing.  The timetable for
Jamal's return can not be set until after the procedure. ... It's likely
Jamal will be out for the rest of the season."

Charles Barkley (Pho) became the 22nd player to surpass the 20,000 career
point mark.
