Pattern Collections

Our pattern collections are designed to be a starting point for PatternMaker users who do not want to start from scratch in designing their own garment. Instead, with PatternMaker and one of our pattern collections, you can choose from several style options to create your pattern.  You can then put in your individual measurements.  You will then get a pattern custom-fit, ready to sew!

Our skirt collection, for example, has many style options: eight basic styles, hip ease options, pocket styles and alternatives for waistbands.

The goal of our pattern collections is to make the process easier for sewers, without the time-consuming work of pattern drafting. Many of the collections use a Scandinavian measuring system.

MORE INFORMATION: PatternMaker Basic, which is free, included with every collection, to allow you to print these patterns. (PatternMaker Basic is a program similar to Adobe Acrobat, which will allow you to open the collection, put in your measurements and print out the pattern. It does not allow you to draw any lines or make any other modifications to the pattern).

A normal printer can be used. All the patterns are marked to show how to tape the pattern together once it is printed.

In order to make changes to the pattern, such as rotating a dart, or changing the size of the collar – which we think is the real fun of PatternMaker – you will need to upgrade to the Patternmaker Deluxe version.

Keep in mind that when you buy Patternmaker Deluxe, you will get our most popular collection, Women 1, a base collection of garments for women. (It includes a blouse, a t-shirt, a skirt, a jacket, a dress, pants.) Customers tell us that the pattern collections really come to life once you have the ability to modify them using Patternmaker Deluxe.

For designers, there are opportunities to create new pattern collections, using our MacroGen program. (For more information, Click here). We are currently seeking designers interested in offering their patterns on our website.
