The former site of a Luby's Cafeteria now houses a New York style buffet called Juju Bee's. Operated by
a chef from New York, his presence assures that quality is maintained (I think the problem with Luby's was
that it had rotating managers, and many times it seemed as if there was no manager). Nevertheless, Juju
Bee's is a buffet, and although it has a large variety of good quality foods, the emphasis is on quantity.
The Whole Turkeys served are a vast improvement over the pressed turkey loaves served in most cafeterias. In fact, it seems that everything at Juju Bee's is good--it's just not something that is really memorable for flavor, uniqueness, and quality. I think this is a needed addition to the El Paso food scene. |
