Before 2000 my only visits here were for the lunch buffet. I never could find any particularly exciting
dishes, and overall I did not think the buffet was very good.
After exploring Korean food more at other restaurants, though, I returned to Korea Garden in 2005 to try the dinner menu. Kimchee Soup had become my standard of reference to compare different restaurants, so I tried the one here. I did not expect the one here to be as good as the one I ate in Oklahoma City, and it was not that good, Nevertheless it was very flavorful and probably the best I have tried in El Paso. The only problem is that the vegetable side dishes were not as good as at Kal Bi House, the place I generally consider to be the best Korean restaurant in El Paso. Thus the score I'm giving Korea Garden is somewhat of an average: a very good kimchee soup vs. not so good side dishes, lunch buffet, and Korean ice tea. On my latest visit I noticed that they also have a lunch menu with the same barbecue dishes offered at some of the other Korean restaurants--beef, pork, chicken, etc. They also serve Chinese food, but the Korean specialties are what I've found to be good here. |
