Victoria's (or Victorea's, as the sign in front says) is probably the most popular Mexican restaurant in northeast El Paso, and except for La Paloma, seems to be the one that has been around the longest. Although this restaurant is not really the best in El Paso, almost all items range from above average to near the top of their category.

Of the items served in the combination plate, probably the best one is the Tostada. Made with brisket, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, it is not only flavorful but fresh and mouth-watering.

The Shredded Beef Taco at La Cuesta is probably in contention for being the best dish.

The next recommended item is the Chile Relleno. As stated in some other reviews, my preference is for New Mexico style rellenos without sauce. Of the El Paso style, though, Victoria's is near the top of the list. With a well-cooked batter, good tasting sauce, delicious cheese, and chile with just the right spiciness, this relleno is one to remember.

The Red Enchilada is good, but a little less special than the other items. The cheese is in chunks and does not melt to give it the texture I like, and the sauce is not spicy enough for my taste.

Rice and beans are good, but not outstanding.

The chips are good. The two types of red salsa served are worthy examples of this El Paso staple, with the right spiciness and flavor, and are not overwhelmed with added spices.

The restaurant is very spacious with several rooms available for private parties, the kitchen is open to view, and the restrooms are clean. This is all a very good combination, except that the prices are a little steep for Mexican food (but worth it, in my opinion). I especially like the collection of license plates on the wall. I enjoy seeing plates I have not seen in a long time, such as the black and white Tennessee plate with the outline of the state and the name "Tenn" inside the outline. The restaurant is open until 9:30 p.m. most nights.
