Canton has a large and loyal following, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. The name is very
descriptive--it has nothing but Cantonese food (chop suey, cashew chicken, egg foo young, etc.), and
although this is American style Cantonese food, it is done very well. Although the food selection is not
very exciting, it is fresh and well made.
The Chicken Almond Ding is flavorful, has only white meat chicken, and the half order is a good sized meal (at $3.40 it's a great deal). The only problem is that this dish doesn't have very many vegetables. The oolong tea is very good, and although MSG is used, it is in such small quantities I don't think it will affect most people who are sensitive to it. Undoubtedly the secret to Canton's success is not that it has really great food, but that it probably offers the most bang for the buck among Chinese restaurants in OKC. If you have an extra $3 or $4 it would be worth giving Canton a try. |
