When I first tried Saigon's Choice it had recently opened and was disturbingly empty considering the quality of food
served. Maybe people were just used to going to Pho Hoa down the street, and I am sure the Noodle Boat Thai
Restaurant in the same shopping center down the street took a lot of the business (although while I was there the
Noodle Boat was closed for an extended time while the owners were in Thailand).
The good thing, though, was that the customers lucky enough to find their way to Saigon's choice received the royal treatment (as far as I could tell all the employees there were family members). Also they were treated to some of the best Vietnamese food in the Seattle area. There is some connection between the owners of Saigon's Choice and the owners of Pho Saigon in Kent (although I don't think they are related). Indeed, the food is very similar between the two restaurants. I would give the edge to Pho Saigon, but the one in Issaquah is quite good, at least for the Vermicelli Noodle Bowl which I usually order. Saigon's Choice has that definite Vietnamese flavor that I like, and is one of my favorite restaurants on the east side. |
