China Gate seems like one of the most authentic Cantonese style restaurants in Seattle. One notable feature
about China Gate is that it has about 200 items on the menu, and goes far beyond the standard Americanized
items.
One of the dishes I liked the most, Ginger Tofu, was not even on the menu, but the fact that they prepared it showed that there are a lot more possibilities if you know what to ask for. One time I ordered steamed Stuffed Tofu in hopes that it would be similar to a dish I had at Disney World in Orlando, but the one at China Gate was disappointing. Nevertheless I have received consistently good quality here, and with so many choices I wish I knew what other items to order. China Gate serves Hong Kong style food, and is perhaps a step above most of the Cantonese restaurants in the International District and Seattle in general. I took advantage of the fact that China Gate is open late (well past midnight, in fact). |
