China 2009

By Al Wong

This is my experience in Beijing, China in the Summer of 2009. If you came to this webpage first, it's better if you start from the beginning of the story.

At the Juyongguan Pass of the Great Wall of China in Beijing

Same section of the Great Wall seen from another angle at the Juyongguan Pass.

If you're wondering why I'm showing only one section of the Great Wall, it's because that's all you see. You don't see the Wall snake around over mountains for miles and miles.

Also, look at the floor. The bricks are so regular. Their spacing, size and coloring are so consistent. This is modern construction. The other sections of the Wall I've seen (at Badaling and Mutianyu) are not this pretty. This leads me to believe this section of the Wall was made for tourists.
