China 2009

By Al Wong

This is my experience in Beijing, China in the Summer of 2009. If you came to this webpage first, it's better if you start from the beginning of the story.

[Muslim Bazaar]

At Xi'an

Looking down the street of the Muslim Bazaar in Xi'an. As you can see, it's very crowded. The bazaar consists of just two streets. You go down one street from the city wall (located next to a McDonalds!) and make a left turn into the other street. There are motorcycles and bikes that like to drive through the crowds at fast speeds. So you have to be always alert while walking and standing in the streets otherwise you'll liable to be hit or run over!

I would love to come back here again. There's a great vibe here. The sights, sounds and smells are interesting! And the prices are quite reasonable. Also, you can bargain like mad here. I understand there's a famous Muslim mosque nearby. I would like to see it.
