This is my experience in China in the Summer of 1999. If you came to this webpage first, it's better if you start from the beginning of the story. 6/30/99 Forbidden City Entrance, Beijing This is the main entrance to the Forbidden City. Only the emperor used the middle doorway. Other officials used the right or left doorways. Around 12noon, the current temperature is near 100 million degrees Farenheit! Note the red taxi in the left foreground. These taxis are plentiful in Beijing and are quite reasonably priced. However, Beijing traffic is relatively dangerous.
