China 1999

This is my experience in China in the Summer of 1999. If you came to this webpage first, it's better if you start from the beginning of the story. 6/30/99 Mao at Tianamen Square, Beijing This picture shows the south side of Tianamen Square with the famous picture of Chairman Mao. Note the light poles on the extreme right and left sides. These light poles are located all over the square. These poles not only carry lights but also support those long stupid banners on either side. These banners are just long enough to interfere with your line of sight in trying to see the entire square. Also these light poles have loud speakers and close circuit cameras.
