Jordan developed an early fascination for his garden equipment. He walked the paths for hours by himself, wheeling his wheelbarrow.
John wheels an old orbiculare, pruned out of its spherical shape for moving, on an even older plant carrier.
Bob first transported rhododendrons (and sometimes John and his sister Nancy) on this carrier in the 1940s at their New Jersey rhododendron park. It has been in continuous use ever since.
Trevor is one of the fourth generation to work in the garden. Here he is planting in the rich black loam that lured his great- grandfather to move 3000 miles and start all over when he was 51.Doreen raking Japanese Maple leaves © 2001 by John and Doreen Anderson
