A note about catheters...since using a vent and trach for 2 and a half
years I find the old style cathetersmuch easy and less invasive to use for
suctioning. When I first has my trach in ICU they used the indwelling
catheter and I hated it. It felt like it sucked all the air out of me and I
would never feel O2 again.
When I was hopitalized for pneumonia a year ago..I specifically asked my
doctor if I could use the same catheters I use at home while being in ICU.
I told him I just couldn't tolerate the indwelling type. He agreed to
whatever I wanted and they brought a supply of the old style for me.
I use it is all in what you are used to......
