I would suggest talking to your medical supply company, or your worker
about this, unless they have never heard of such a device. Insurance or
state funding should pay. Otherwise one valve is $45. The safety
instructions say to dispose of after 2 months, but I have a few left
that are a year old. They can be washed w/ a mild dishsoap, and water.
Peroxide & water to rinse but don't soak. Disinfectents such as Control
III, I don't recommend (I know, Minnesota is weird). I'm no expert, I
just got some directions. For those who wonder what the hell I'm talking
about, it is a speaking valve for a trach or in-line vent tubing. The
white or blue passy both work the same way. White is more durable. If a
cuffed trach is used it MUST be DEFLATED! A cuffless trach is strongly
recommended.
