Annette,

I've had a bronchioscope done several times. It's really no big
deal. It doesn't hurt at all, but may make you choke a little bit. A
bronchioscope is just a little fiber optics tube, about the size of a
suction catheter, with a light source connected to it. The doctor
inserts it down into the trach and looks through a eyepiece to examine
the trachea. This proceedure only takes a few minutes. Good luck!
