Hello, for the first time. I have been on the mailing list for the past
few weeks and have been enjoying it very much. I don't have very much info to
give, as I live in Japan. I am not a vent user
myself, but my daughter used to be one(she passed away 2yrs ago).
I'm studying to be an occupational therapist now, and am interested in
community based rehabilitation. I also belong to the Baku Baku Club(Vent Users Parent
Association)of Japan. Our English page is finally up, so if you're interested, please
come and stop by.

I have a question. Do any of you have a service dog or know any vent user
who has one? There are only few service dogs in Japan yet, but I am thinking
that a service dog can be a good partner for a vent user or the family.
For parents taking care of a child with a ventilator is always in the fear that
they might not wake up during the night even the alarm is going off. Accidents
have happened this way, at home. I'm wondering if a service dog can be the
'second' alarm. I would be happy to have any info concerning service dogs.
Thanks.
