It was so nice to read your message! I am so very sorry about the loss of
your daughter. I was wondering if you know "Kimiyo Satoh," from Sapporo
City Japan? Kimiyo is a vent user and she traveled with Nobukatsu
Minoura, Research Associate & Instructor, Tokyo University of Foreign
Studies. I met them in St. Louis where Kimiyo gave an excellent speech
about vent users in Japan. She has started her own newsletter and lives
independently. Regarding your question about service dogs: I have 3 dogs.
Two Shetland Sheepdogs, & a Toy Poodle. Their names are: Bonnie, Bridget,
& Brewster. Although they are not service dogs, they are my best
buddies.. They enjoy the sound of the vent. When they hear it turn on
they come running and don't leave me. If the alarm goes off during the
night, one of them will wake me up or my husband. They are now 11 & 12
yrs. old. I think your idea to use service dogs for this purpose is
excellent. Let me know if you need the names of the schools in the U.S.
who train service dogs.
