Just a little background: I had polio at age 7 in 1952. It resulted in a
severe scoliosis, and in 4th grade I started to wear a body brace. I had a
spinal fusion in my 30s, and in '89 I was trached. I use a vent for
sleeping; otherwise, I breathe room air without assistance.
