Actually there are 3 vent: LP-6+ LP-10 & LP-12. My vender, in Minnesota
still
repairs my LP-6, because there are really very little differences in the
vents. The interior parts are basically the same, excepting that the new
ones
have computers, new setting controls and pressure controls. Anyone who
says they can't service your old LP-6 simply is refusing because of the
money they can make or they don't have the right contracts. Don't let
them
pull a fast one on you. My LP-6 was recently fixed. A ventilator costs
$10,000
US dollars, so there is lots of money being tossed around by companies.

ps- As far as the louder sound of the LP series, I've grown to depend on
it
because it assures and makes me feel I'm getting enough air. When I've
loaned a new LP-10 while getting one serviced, the quieter new ones
psychologically make me feel short of air.
