I received the following letter from Olga whose father was in an accident and
is now vent-dependent. From what I can tell, she is having trouble posting to
the list. I tried to e-mail her a private response; however, my post was
returned to me. I'm now passing her letter on to you, hoping that some of you
can give her some support. Thanks. Carol Meyer

I have been reading all the letters everyone has been writing for quite
awhile and now that I want to send out a message I am not sure if everyone
will read this request. So...I picked you to hopefully pass on the message
if I dont do it right.
I have a request that I need help with, I hope you guys can help me.
My father over a year ago was involved in a car accident and now he is vent
dependant with a C-4 complete spinal cord injury. He is at home now with
mymom and tow 24 hour nurses. At 74 years old he was still working. He was a
very active man. I go to his house to see him and try to buy him tapes to
listen to and read the paper to him when he is awake. Can you think of other
things I can do for him? I bring pictures to him and try to keep him up to
date with what is going on in my life and with news. Some days it tears me
apart to see him like that. Some days its so hard. I miss him so badly. I
feel so helpless sometimes and wish there was more I could do for him. I
work a full time job and have an 18 year old son who has Duchene Muscular
Dystrophy so its kind of makes things kind of crazy with his care also. I
dont know I just want to be able to do more. Any suggestions?
Thank you for listening and thanks for being out there.
Olga
