Yesterday was a failure on the bipap machine. Even with the new
rigging(tubing setup) Bailey couldn't trigger the breaths that she
needed. I spoke with Dr. doom and gloom about our options. Right now
the only option that we have is to try and get her to the LP10 (home
vent). This is going to be very difficult given Bailey's past with a
rate. She has shown us that a rate and her do not go together. they
will start to put her on a "back up rate" starting today and wean her
off of her pressure support. This is a long..... process.
For the good news. Bailey's b-day party is on the 21st. They are going
to bring one of the other kids who is scheduled to go home at the end of
the month (and is on a home vent) over to play with Bailey. She will be
1 year and gets to play with her first playmate at her b-day party. I
have invited all of the nurses from her previous hospital and my family
will be there too. it should be a blow out.
Thanks
