Hello Eric,
My son has a mic key g tube for feeding. He had to have a nissen
fundoplication ( tightening of the top of the stomach) done to prevent
reflux from returning back up his esophogous and vomiting out his mouth.
He also had to have a pyloroplasty(opening of the pyloral muscle larger)
done because he had delayed stomach emptying. When you have a
fundoplication done you can still eat by mouth however its virtually
impossible to burp. Sometimes as they grow it is possible to burp but
for right now during feedings Rodney needs to vent with his vent tube.
It consists of a mic key bolus tube going into the stomach, a catheter
adapter ( Y adapter), a 60cc catheter tipped syringe and the tubing from
the feeding bag. The bolus tube which goes into the stomach is
connected to the bottom portion of the Y adapter on the side of the
adapter the tubing from the feeding bag goes and on the top the 60cc
syringe goes . So while he is being fed he can vent at the same time. I
will send a picture and show you. Hope I have not confused you or anyone
else. If you have any other questions just ask!
