Patient Bill of Rights Act of 1998.

The Patients Bill of Rights legislation proposed
by the Clinton Administration and introduced
in the House of Representatives on March 31,
1998 predominantly by House Democrats
received a giant boost today with nine leading
Republicans coming forth to endorse it.

President Clinton today released a statement
saying he was extremely pleased that today
at least nine Republican House Members
added their names as cosponsors to H.R.
3605, the Patient Bill of Rights Act of 1998.

The additional Republican cosponsors are
as follows: Ganske (IA), Bass (NH), Forbes
(NY), Fox (PA), Gilchrest (MD), Graham (SC),
Horn (CA), LaTourette (OH), and Leach (IA).
Their endorsements sent a strong signal to
their party that this legislation deserves to
be passed and it deserves to be bipartisan.

The Patient Bill of Rights Act of 1998 was
originally introduced by Congressman Dingell
(D-MI). The bill is a product of the President's
Consumer Advisory Board on Managed Care.
The legislation provides overdue protections that
Americans need to renew their confidence in the
nation's rapidly changing health care system. It
also allows patients to see the specialist they
need; access emergency care when they need
it; speak freely with doctors and nurses about all
available medical options---not just the cheapest,
and to appeal when they have grievances about
their health care.

This is a huge step forward for this piece of
legislation and with the help of the grassroots
we may just pass it this year.....

JUSTICE FOR ALL!!!
