Point Of View, public television's award-winning showcase of independent
non-fiction films, is proud to announce that the series will be
nationally
broadcasting filmmaker Walter Brock's newest film, "If I Can't Do It,"
week
of July 7th, 1998 at 10:00pm (ET)(please check your local listings). "If
I
Can't Do It" is a profile of Arthur Campbell, Jr., a man who doesn't want
your sympathy, but only wants what most people do: a living wage, a
meaningful social life, a few good laughs and the means to get around.
Filmmaker Walter Brock offers an unflinching, intensely personal portrait
of
one man with a disability who, with many others, is pushing for
independence
and an equal slice of the American pie. From the remote hills of
Kentucky
to the hallowed halls of Congress, join Arthur on his unforgettable ride
through life and the disability rights movement. A co-presentation with
the
Independent Television Service.
"This is our story....ADAPT's story", explains Mike Auberger, National
Organizer for ADAPT. "The whole story is Arthur Campbell's, and his
involvement in ADAPT's movement to change the face of public transit
changed
his life." This is an intensely personal, deeply humanizing look at
what it
takes to live with a severe disability, and a look at an ordinary man
named
Arthur Campbell.
