about The Evergreen State Society
- At
its August meeting, the board invited Sherry Shanabarger
to become a director. She is a Program Coordinator for a clinical trial
at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and a long-term volunteer
for the Seattle International Film Festival. Over the past couple of
years, she has been actively assisting the Society with planning and
communications activities. She joins Gene Edgar, chair,
Teri Clifford and Sunny Speidel.
- The
website at www.TESS.org
has a crisp new look and simplified navigation. The welcome page lists
the next events the Society is organizing and offers links to necessary
details. Other links connect to useful information for and about nonprofits
in Washington and beyond. Thanks to Sarah Park for her editorial insights
and technical proficiency as the new website design is implemented.
- BrownBag
and Schmoozefest both have new program managers. Ellen
Zick has picked up the BrownBag portfolio from Joseph Smith after a
little more than a year under his leadership. Joe Smith is now the controller
for Sea-Mar. Mary Leake is the new organizer for Schmoozefest as Carol
Walter moves into the challenge of the Master of Not-for-Profit Leadership
program at Seattle University. Say hullo to the new volunteers, and
thank you to our colleagues who are scaling back
as they accept new challenges, at an upcoming Society event.
- One
day soon the subscribers to NonprofitNetworking (there
are nearly a thousand of them) will find an announcement in their incoming
email that the familiar discussions of nonprofit issues in the greater
Seattle area have been moved to a new host. From that time forward,
the address for circulating announcements through this service will
be NonprofitNetworking@TESS.org. Michelle Sheiman will continue to administer
this service of The Evergreen State Society after
she completes the many steps of the transition.
- Marie
Sauter, who worked with us on Front Steps while we
were publishing that newsletter about neighborliness, is back as part
of our volunteer team, working on this newsletter as its Managing Editor.
