PatternMaker Deluxe is designer for users who are mostly planning to make their own clothes – and are looking for a great fit! You can enter your measurements and have your own pattern, custom-sized to your particular body. Say goodbye to standard sizes!
It is a fantastic feeling when something actually fits like a glove. It is a feeling that you rarely experience in life, especially when you have always bought clothing. Only 11 percent of us actually fit a standard size.
Many of our customers who start with PatternMaker Deluxe had never used a software program for patterns prior to using our software. We also have users who do not know how to draft patterns, but are interested in modifying already existing patterns. Everyone feels a little intimidated at the challenges learning any new software provides. PatternMaker is designed to allow you draw in the same way you would on paper, instead using the mouse as your writing tool.
If you are reading this and are worried about learning how to use PatternMaker, the first thing to let you know is – don’t feel overwhelmed. Many customers have told us that PatternMaker is a very logical and consistent program – but users need to understand the way the program communicates with the user. The program contains a detailed instruction guide that can walk you through the learning process.
PatternMaker Professional – $399
PatternMaker Professional is where sewers with drafting experience can really see the power of a computer-assisted design program. The Professional Studio allows you to full capabilities to draw pattern pieces from scratch on a screen, using the mouse much the way a designer would use a pencil on the drafting board.
With PatternMaker Professional, once you have created your block pattern (sloper), you can use this pattern over and over for an endless styling variations without having to redraw anything. You can cut, copy and rotate it to see what different design options look like – and you can just save it, without losing the original. Measuring seam lines is easy and quick and you are much more accurate than you would be with a paper and pencil. Fitting alterations on the patterns are easily done. And you can take notes of the process.
PatternMaker Professional makes pattern drafting much more precise as well. It allows you to easily draw absolutely straight lines with precision. You can immediately get measured distances absolutely correct – your 1- inch line will be precisely that, without creating any problems of mis-measuring.
And one of the best features is that it accurately calculates the length of curved lines, making it a cinch to get the measurements of sleeve armholes, for example, exactly right when it comes time to sew your garment. With Patternmaker Professional, you will find that the program takes care of problems such as ensuring that your neckhole line is the correct length.
And just like PatternMaker Deluxe, you can print out your pattern, scaled down to fit on 8 ½ by 11 paper, so that you can actually look at the pattern as you are designing.
As any experienced designer knows, these are the kinds of benefits that make PatternMaker Professional invaluable, saving you time and money, and allowing you to get on with your creative work!

How does the program know where to grade the pattern?
The Grading Studio, you select grading arrows to indicate your grading decisions. By adding grading arrows to each point of a pattern you give PatternMaker the grading rules for that point.
You can add as many arrows to a piece as you want to. This is easy to understand, easy to modify and works the way professional graders are used to working.
You can also save the grading rules in a grading table file and apply it to any other pattern.
Changing the grading rules or making a break is very simple. The Grading Studio will make a nest of patterns for you in a few seconds.
What if I have a signature pocket or other customized details that I want indicated on the pattern?
The Grading Studio allows you to create your own customized libraries of your standard symbols, objects or groups of patterns.
You can also make libraries of your own symbols and insert these symbols very quickly in a new drawing or design. This library could include sewing symbols you have developed, such as your own notch marks, specialized collars or pockets or a company logo.
How can I create a PatternMaker pattern out of my existing paper pattern?
The Grading Studio also has the capability to create a Patternmaker pattern out of a paper pattern, by with a digitizing tablet.
To use this function, the user places a paper pattern on the digitizing tablet and draws it into the program by moving the special digitizing mouse over the pattern. With the special digitizing features of the Grading Studio, this paper pattern is drawn into a PatternMaker file, which can be edited or saved in the program.
Please note that the digitizing tablet is not included and must be purchased separately.
