Riverfront Park Ride, Spokane

The Spokane River rages through the park, with countless bridges crossing the rapids and waterfalls.

I take the trike across the suspension bridge over the rapids.

Doreen decided not to try this, so was able to take the picture.

You can take a break from your ride and get another view from the gondola.

We had never been on a gondola before, and then rode two in two days.

It is a short, exhilirating walk back to your trike.

You also encounter more sedate waters along your route through the complex network of paths and bridges.

Besides the water, there are numerous other features of the park you will pass on your ride. Sculpture complements the natural setting.

While you ride, others run.

No one ever told us how tiny the people of Spokane are.

The antique merry-go-round and hundreds of carved animals were restored by members of the community.

A hundred little kids and two old people rode the horses in our video.

And the Drive Home

Back in that arid section between Ritzville and George, the rain fell in buckets. We had the windshield wipers on high for two hours. This area gets about 10 inches of rain a year, most of it that day.

The rest area had a small patch of irrigated green, and then sagebrush.
