Mosses
Mosses form a rich complement to rhododendrons with their spongy texture and minute detail. They invite you to get up close to examine and touch.
Here a Naomi blew paratially over and formed a mound as its roots reestablished themselves in the new configuration. The moss moved in where the mulch was uncovered, creating a striking base for a beautiful plant.
Mosses also like rocks, where they don't have to compete with weeds. The moss covered stones here are part of an alpine garden, surrounded by rhododendrons much like the shrubs around a morraine.
