I too have thee Bennett Companion 2800 vent. setting are 1o breaths per
minute...35 pressure, I like it higher when I am "beeping" alot. I use a #6
Shiley trach, uncuffed. This system was set for me by my pulmonologist. As
the years have went by we "experiment" a bit...but I never would have
dreamed of doing it on my own.
I get lung infections, but as far as the trach..not scaring, infections, or
even redness. In fact haven't had it changed in almost 2 years. (But
checked regularly by my doctor.) He feels that unnecessary changing of the
tube can cause trauma and scarring.
My settings on the vent are different from most due to the fact that I have
use of just one part of my left lobe of lung. But it seems to be doing the
trick.
I hope we all remember..."to each is own...as long as we're breathing"
Take care..
Annette
