Wow, Annette! I'm really impressed, too! That's great! I think that more
companies should do this ... go directly to the users and get their input. Who
better to give it?!
I am getting used to a new vent this week. I really hate giving up an old vent
that I'm used to and getting used to a new one. There is always a different
"feel" to it, and I really hate the transition period until all of the
settings get tweaked just so to suit me! I also have a new RT that I've been
having trouble getting used to; he comes out once a month from my vent
supplier company to test my equipment. He's the one who first set up my new
vent. During the first visit with the new vent, we still didn't get the
settings right. He came out again this week and now I believe that we have it.
I had been using a Puritan Bennett and this one is an Acquitron. The vent
circuit is a little different, too; and that has a different "feel" to it.
It's just a matter of getting used to.
The reason though that I don't like these times is that they bring up old
emotional memories about horrendous breathing experiences I've had when I've
been in a medical crisis. I can tell myself that this fear is about the past
and not about today; however, I have to work at it to keep it in the
background. If I were to let myself, I could really freak out about it.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Annette! I'm really glad that you kept
insisting to have something done about your problem.
Have a great weekend, Everybody!
