Val, Until recently my O2 provider was charging Medicare about $3000. a
month for the rental of 2 vents [LP6 ans LP10]. That seemed like a
ridiculous sum for rental when a few months' payment would have purchased
them. The argument was always that the rentals would be monitored
monthly while you were on your own if you owned. It seems as though
Medicare has awakened to this overcharging but wrongly by refusing
payment of the backup vent. There should be a way for insurance to buy
the vents and pay for a service contract of maintenance. In the end they
would save money and the user would be protected.
