Building Logs, part 4...
Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Home |
Well, we have some good news! Emily's folks are letting her come up and stay with us at the beginning of May. It'll be great to have some of our original team back together, not to mention the fact that she's a hard worker and really committed to the project.
The kind folks at the Woodenboat Forums have been a great help in answering my many questions, helping me upgrade the hull design for a more complex rig, and giving me the confidence to go full steam ahead with the project. The archives alone are wonderfully informative, but the generosity of the members is priceless!
On to fiberglassing!

- A well earned vacation

We didn't have the boat done in time for the week in North Carolina, but we went and had a great vacation anyway!
Good times with family and friends
- Finish furniture and final prep...
May 29 through June 6, 2003
We've finished all of the hull carpentry now... The big curved aft seat really looks nice..
- Epoxy and varnish
Next on the agenda!
- We've come a long way ...
As you can see from the pictures, we're moving along well. The boat's been fiberglassed and painted, the seats and thwarts are built, and we're ready to apply epoxy and varnish to everything. When that's done we'll be able to move on toward final hull assembly and putting together of the rig.
Alegra will soon go back to North Carolina to spend some more time with Emily and her family. Meanwhile, we'll be bringing the boat home and getting set up to continue with the finishing of the interior and seat parts.
We've come a long way, but there's quite a bit of work left to do.
The saga continues...
