In a book or lengthy report, the subject at hand is not always easily divided into chapters, sections, or subsections in a way that will suit all readers. Indexes are generated to assist the reader in choosing the material to be read. The Dbase Find String function creates an index to nodes containing the word or phrase (string) of interest. The reader may then select the appropriate node.
The Decision Maker expert system includes its own search engine. New hypertext, added through the SmartdataBase product is automatically added to the index. In the above example the phrase "expert system" was typed and the software found all items containing that phrase.
