Snowstorm--January 4, 2004 Windstorm--December 3, 2003 Ice Storm--January 7, 2004 Other Strange Weather--November 22, 2003 and December 1965
We have had hardly any snow for five years, but had two storms in the past two weeks. A wet snow before Thanksgiving was followed by this dry, granular eight inches on December 3. The heavy accumulation transformed paths into deep channels and tunnels. Because it was so cold, the snow adhered to the plants for several days. The wet snow slid off by noon. |

The snow, and later the ice, weighed down the bamboo to one-third its height. When the ice melted, the bamboo sprung back up to its original height. |
