<< Is is necessary to live in a nursing home? >> No.
<< Is full time nursing staff needed? >> You might need full time attendants
not necessarily nurses.
<< How do you pay for all this stuff? >> Medicaid.
<< How do you bath? >> I take bed/sponge baths. I used to take showers but
can't fit into the shower in my current home. It's easy to ensure no water
gets in the trache, just no swimming. ;-)
<< Can you stay in your wheelchair all day or are you in bed all the
time? >> Whatever you want. I spend most time in my bed because of my
spine.
Will I be able to talk and eat normally? >> I cn't shut up and I love food.
Yes.
<< Do you go to resturants, movies, concerts, outdoor activities? >> I go
to college, I have a favorite restaurant I have a beer and a pizza, I
sawindependence Day and loved it. I own & operate my own consulting business.
I am about to be the director of an independent living center. ALL ON A VENT!
<< Those are just a few of my concerns, I would really appreciate any input
that might reduce my fears. Thanks so much, >> My other name is SyberMouth &
Jaminator. I am 32, have Duchenne MD and we have communicated before. I'm
also sending my phone # if you ever want to talk, and discover how well
someone can talk with a trache. That goes for the rest of you on this list.
Just ask.
