I started using a ventilator (90% of the time), around a year ago, and at
first I
did have anxiety whenever I left the safe confines of my home. But I am
starting
to enjoying getting out now, even if it is only for a hour or so. I am
currently
using a walker to get around but I have attached an airtank holder on it so
it
is easier to take all of my necessary gear. I always bring my portable vent.,
air tank, suction machine, extra inner canulas, ambu bag, and when I am
out by myself, a cell phone. I hope to one day be able to plan a weekend
away, but right now, I am doing the "baby steps" method, one step at a time.
Right I also am doing is to set certain goals, which I have written down
on a list. This list helps me mentally, for when I do make a goal, it is a
sense
of personal satisfaction. In the words of "Nike" ....Just do it!
Good luck,
Mark
